Owls being sold at CBC Toronto Charity Craft Show, Dec. 13

It's been a very, very busy couple of weeks as I'm working hard to increase my stock of stuffed Wise Owls to be sold at the CBC Charity Craft Show in Toronto, Dec. 13. If anyone out there is interested in hand made items, I believe this is a fabulous craft show! Held in the Toronto CBC building on Front Street, in the Atrium, on Dec. 13, 2012, from 8:30 - 5:30. If you do come, please introduce yourself to me - I'll be at "Sue's Owlings".
These are examples of my owls, which sell for either $20. or $30. I have over 60 owls, all individually sewn, and named. Each one is unique. I also have my owls for sale at a store in Toronto's Kensington Market, "The Fairies Pyjamas". More pictures can be seen by clicking on the link to my website on the right hand side of this blog.
This is a picture from my first ever craft show last spring, at a school fun fair.

No Zentangle, but lots of owls, and a cross Canada drive

I've been fighting Zentangle withdrawal, but have been so busy for the past few weeks that I haven't had time to do more than periodically add new published tangles into my workbook. My husband and I did a drive from Toronto to Vancouver - a bit of a whirlwind as we did it in a week. However we were able to see ancestral sites in the prairies, and visit with some friends and relatives along the way. When we got back I had a week to prepare for my first full day craft show at the Peterborough Folk Festival. Everything went really well, the weather was terrific, and I sold 15 owls which I'm quite happy with. I did manage to do this week's Zentangle Challenge after missing the last few, but won't post it until tomorrow a.m. as it's time to go to bed.

Selling Owls

This was my first craft sale for the owls I've been making since Nov. 2011. I didn't know what to expect as it was a public school fun fair/craft sale in my neighborhood. Well, the owls were a hit and I sold nine owls which is really good considering that many parents said they didn't expect to be buying anything other than food and games for the kids. There was lots of interest and many others took my business card, so maybe I'll make some sales via my website? I've probably made about 130 owls so far, and have sold almost 50! It's been great fun playing with fabrics and since each owl has an original name, it's been fun searching for and making up appropriate names. Of the owls I've made, I gave lots away for presents, then found a store in Kensington Market, Toronto, (The Fairies Pyjama's), that has been selling quite a few for me. Another store in Collingwood (Store 54) has taken a few as well. I'm hoping to be accepted in another craft show in Peterborough in late August.

I'm having a great week! I've sold my first owl, and have 13 more on consignment in the Kensington Market. I'm getting lots of positive feedback about them. Yesterday a drapery store gave me lots of pretty fabric samples so I'll be sewing some new colors, and since most samples are too small for the owls, I will have to come up with some other way of using them.... maybe quilted lap throws? cushions? placemats? mini-owls? And, I loved this week's Zentangle challenge - see my other posts for examples. Feeling very optimistic (even more than usual) - must be SPRING!

My Parliament of Owls

I started sewing owls in November.... so far I've made about 45 of them - all named, with various fabrics and a wise message. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them (many have gone as Christmas gifts), but maybe they will be seen at various craft shows around Toronto in the spring.
