Zendala Dare #80

Another fun Zendala from Erin at www.thebrightowl.blogspot.ca! This took more time that I thought it would, mainly because it's about 10" x 10", and I was being very careful with Punzel. I love Punzel but it can really be difficult. I admit that I drew it out in pencil first though was surprised at how little I had to "fix". We reviewed this tangle at the CZT12 session and Rick and Maria made it look so easy and graceful. Other than that, the rest just seemed to come together fairly easily. I think it would have been better if I'd put some colour in the background behind the Punzel - the gaps behind the overlapping twists would show better. Maybe next time….

Zentangle Challenge #118 - UMT - Kuke

The Zentangle Challenge this week from Laura at www.iamthedivaczt.blogspot.ca is an "UMT" (Use My Tangle), and the tangle is Kuke. Such a pretty tangle! I can't wait to see how others have used it, which I'll do after I've submitted mine. I used one of the pre-printed Zendala tiles. Twile was a challenge to me - getting it to fit into the triangular curves, but I'm ok with the way it turned out. ...and I rather wish I'd used the sepia for Kuke and black for Archer and Hybrid so that Kuke would be more of the focus. Another great challenge Laura, thanks!

Zentangle Challenge #93 - Bunzo

This week's Zentangle Challenge from Laura at iamthedivaczt.blogspot.ca is to use the new tangle Bunzo. It's a neat tangle using one line - a sort of smile. Hummm, looked easier than I found it, but I'm sure I'll be more adventurous once I look at others' interpretations. I found some pretty linen textured, soft colored cardstock and so this is my first try on it. Pencil smudges differently on it, but I don't think it shows unless one looks really closely at the original. Scrolled Feather is one of my all time favorite tangles, but I need to play around with it some more - this one didn't turn out at all the way I had intended, though I'm not totally displeased with it since it's such a flexible tangle. I love these challenges because they really do take me out of my comfort zone, make me stretch my imagination, and as important, give me the opportunity to use "new to me" tangles. In this case it's the first time I've used Bunzo, Hurry, Allium, and Raindotty. I appreciate that so many people take the time to look at contributions and give feedback!

Zendala

Picked up another one of my pre-strung Zendala tiles (available through www.zentangle.com) and this is the result. I wish I hadn't colored in the background on Maylea, but there you go.... Love the teal color though and will use that more often.

Zendala Dare #12

Thanks again Erin (www.thebrightowl.blogspot.ca) for another great zendala template. I knew I wouldn't want to do just one of this design so I've put 3, plus separate parts, together as a ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art). Tangles I used: H2O Lilly, Prestwood, "C" scape, Linq, Daggerly, Echoism (I loved what you did Erin in your example, so I hope you don't mind, but I copied you...), Coil, Tipple, Golven, Hybrid, Squid, Arches, Chainlea, Pepper, and another that I think is called TH@ by Margaret Bremner. Now I want to work on this week's Zentangle Challenge, and check out all the entries for the past week for both the Dare and Challenge as I haven't had much free time to browse.... I love looking at what other people have done, and reading the comments! Such a wonderful Zentangle community!!

Zentangle Challenge #68 Hybrid and Strircles

This week's Zentangle Challenge is to use the two tangles Hybrid and Strircles. I've never used Hybrid before - like it a lot! Strircles is another fun one, but it's hard for me to use variations for this one. I did this small ZIA in one sitting as I've been vacationing in Scotland for the past week and was "getting behind" in my Zentangling! I missed the deadline for last week's challenge "Earth Day" because there was so much to see, so many people to visit, and little access to internet. So here is my completed ZIA for Earth Day as well. I used a map of the world for my string. All comments are welcomed!
