Zendala Dare #26 - Halloween Theme

My last post didn't take into consideration this week's Zendala Dare theme (www.thebrightowl.blogspot.ca) - either fall or Halloween - so last night I did one more of this fabulous template with a halloween theme. I love cats so this was my inspiration. Scanning doesn't do justice to color or shading sometimes, so in this one you miss the green outlining the cat's eyeballs on the outer circle. When I finally went to bed it occurred to me that I should have used lava juice (more "witchy") instead of afterglow... oh well, it worked. Themes are fun, but require more artistic abilities I think. I found a similar cat on google images so sort of copied it as I couldn't do this on my own.

Zentangle Dare #10

This is my contribution to Erin's Zendala Dare of the week (see www.thebrightowl.blogspot.ca). I enjoyed this one, even though I "rushed" through it because it's a very busy week. As usual when I'm hurrying, I wanted to make it simple, but got caught up in all the fabulous tangles - couldn't decide which to use - so used as many as I could :) I made a few mistakes along the way, but that's ok, it's all part of the process. (Starting outside, clockwise from the top: wisket, nightsbridge, jonqual, chard, jalousie, bitten, stax, gewurtz, and moving day; then inside: facets, zedbra, voxter, footlights, slink, and crescent moon) Thanks again Erin for a fun template!

Zendala Dare #5

Erin from "The Bright Owl" creates a mandala for us to tangle each week - creating a Zendala. (Still can't figure out how to do a direct link - you can find her blog at: www.thebrightowl.blogspot.ca) I really had fun with this one - it was tough going though as it's a beautiful day and the garden beckons so I was back and forth between the porch, drawing, and digging in the earth. I started out with Punzel which is a tangle I love, but have trouble with. I was determined that it had to go into this one and I confess, I did it in pencil first. Another of my favorites, Moving Day, had to go in as it's such a crazy random yet still a grid pattern. The rest just sort of came together. Thanks Erin for putting together such a great dare each week, and I particularly like the shape this week so may try another! I enjoy reading comments, so please let me know what your thoughts are. ZIA - ovals, squares, circles - Zentangle challenge #65

The string for this ZIA was created using three things from the kitchen - a coaster, a martini shaker, and an olive dish - I thought about calling it "wasted martini's", but will save that catchy title for another ZIA. I had barely started when Zentangle Weekly Challenge #65 from "I am the Diva" came out asking us to use the tangle "Huggy Bear". I'd never used it before. I did a traditional tile and submitted that, but though it made me try some variations of Huggy Bear, I wasn't too happy with it. So I added it into this ZIA, and I'm much happier with how it turned out. I didn't try to be too original in variations - I'm working on learning and practicing tangles, rather than stretching creativity. Sometimes when I see how creative others are, I think "why didn't I think of that?". Hopefully that will come after I get better at technique. Love to hear any comments....

Zentangle Challenge #61

Zentangle weekly challenge #61 is to use the tangle "Golven" I love it! This is a tangle that is quite versatile and can be very detailed, or left quite simple; can be used as a border, or to fill a space... I was working on a ZIA of overlapping ovals and when this challenge came up, I decided to add this tangle, so I've included the ZIA as well.
