Weekly Challenge #54 - Purple

One of my other passions is making stained glass pieces, and when my eye caught on a purple candle front that I had done several years ago - I had an Ah Ha! moment, and decided to try tangles on the glass. I discovered two things about tangling on glass: 1. the Micron ink smudges really easily and 2. I'm not a photographer, so I couldn't find a place that showed light through the glass, but also showed how purple the glass is. Though it looks rather pink, you'll have to take my word for it that the glass is quite purple. Interesting experiment and I'll now start looking for better ink because you can bet I'll be adding tangles to some of my future stained glass pieces!

Sue, this is lovely! I'm glad to hear you will be tangling more on your glass pieces...can't wait to see more!
Try MicroPerm pens and IDenti-Pens, both by Sakura. They are permanent inks that dry quickly on non-porous surfaces. MicroPerms are designed specifically for non-porous surfaces; they feel a lot like a Micron, which is nice. Here's a link to the Sakura page that highlights this pen: http://www.sakuraofamerica.com/Pen-permanent-ink
The IDenti-Pen come with a dual tip, both of which are thicker than the MicroPerm. Here's a link:

I bought mine at Jerry's Art-a-Rama, since we have one here in town. I enjoy using these pens on dominoes. --Amy in TN

Amy this is beautiful.

I learned stained glass from a (very) old master, many years ago....and I remember that in researching some techniques...church windows in particular, that they used to draw on the glass (mostly the faces and things they had in their hands) and somehow fire it to make the "etch" permanent. Am I remembering it right? It may be a very cool way to do a large window.

Very cool!.....Maria

Beautiful - it's great you were able to marry two loves. I want to try etching some tangles on my fused glass pieces. Someday. Well done.
